Washington D.C. Awakens: The First-Ever ETHDC Conference

The Crypto Scene Awakens in Washington D.C.

Washington D.C. might not be the first place that comes to mind when thinking of cryptocurrency and blockchain technology. However, a new conference is set to change that. The ETHDC conference, taking place on May 14th, is the first of its kind, focusing solely on developers and founders in the crypto space.

Blockchain developers gathering at a conference

The idea for the conference came about when Shailee Adinolfi, Business Development Manager at TrustMachines, noticed a growing ecosystem of developers in D.C., Virginia, and Maryland. Over several years, this community grew to 300 people, and Adinolfi saw an opportunity to bring them together.

“The genesis ETHDC conference is to put a spotlight on D.C. area founders in the crypto space. We formed the DC DAO and the idea of ETHDC came about because we wanted to have an event for ourselves that was not focused on policy where we have talked about things like scaling and roll-ups, token standards and abstraction and all the things that we want to do to scale, grow and succeed in this space, and partner with each other.” - Shailee Adinolfi

The conference will feature speakers and panels discussing technical blockchain development, with a focus on scaling, roll-ups, token standards, and abstraction. It’s an opportunity for developers to share knowledge and ideas, and for companies like UniSwap, MetaMask, and Casa to showcase their work.

TrustMachines, a company focused on developing the Bitcoin ecosystem, will also be represented at the conference. Adinolfi explained that they see an opportunity for bitcoin applications to be built that could potentially replace the fees that will naturally decrease over time from Bitcoin miners, and thereby provide a replacement for a financial incentive to keep the Bitcoin network secure and sustainable in the future.

The ETHDC conference is a significant step forward for the crypto community in Washington D.C., and it will be exciting to see what comes out of this event.
