Crypto Wars: Turkey’s Largest Exchange Hacked, Winklevoss Twins Pledge $2M to Trump’s Campaign
Turkey’s crypto market is booming, but security concerns are on the rise.
Turkey’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, BtcTurk, has been hacked, resulting in the theft of nearly 51 million euros. The exchange announced that a cyber attack on their platform caused uncontrolled withdrawals to be processed, affecting only some of the balances in the hot wallets of 10 cryptocurrencies. Fortunately, their cold wallets, where most of the assets are kept, are safe.
The hacking incident has raised concerns about the security of crypto exchanges.
The exchange has stopped cryptocurrency deposits and withdrawals and is conducting a detailed research on the matter. Security authorities have been notified, and users are assured that their assets will not be affected by these losses.
Meanwhile, in the United States, the Winklevoss twins, Cameron and Tyler, have pledged $2 million in Bitcoin to Donald Trump’s presidential campaign. The twins, who are co-founders of Gemini, claim that Trump is the pro-Bitcoin, pro-crypto, and pro-business choice. They argue that the Biden administration has openly declared war against crypto, weaponizing government agencies to bully and harass crypto companies.
The Winklevoss twins are backing Trump’s campaign with a significant Bitcoin donation.
The twins’ endorsement has sparked debate in the crypto community, with some questioning Trump’s intentions on crypto and whether he is looking to learn from the example of Robert F. Kennedy Jr, a crypto-friendly candidate running as an Independent in 2024.
Trump’s stance on crypto is still unclear, but the Winklevoss twins are convinced he’s the best choice.
As the crypto market continues to grow, security concerns and political endorsements are becoming increasingly important. Will Trump’s campaign benefit from the Winklevoss twins’ donation, or will it spark a backlash from the crypto community?
